Connecting Businesses and Growing the Community - Arlington Chamber of Commerce

Earlier this month we had the pleasure to sit down with Tonia Howell with the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. We discussed upcoming events in the community, new growth opportunities for the chamber and the challenges and victories in the Arlington community.

We can all agree that the past few months have been challenging for businesses and families, but we can also intentionally search out the Good News happening too! Tonia is so enthusiastic about helping businesses in her community. She is also passionate about recognizing a healthy business community translates into a healthy community for all.

I asked Tonia her favorite part of working for the chamber and she didn’t hesitate to tell me she loves connecting people. “Business is done through personal connections – the power of connection is the force multiplier”. Most of us know that a chamber of commerce is charged with heading up community events and coordinating networking functions and fundraisers. What some fail to realize is service is at the heart of any good Chamber of Commerce.

The Arlington Chamber of Commerce is vested in the success of all of Arlington. They advocate on behalf of the businesses, citizens and nonprofit organizations of the community on a local and state level. A healthy business community means solid tax revenue that is invested back into the schools, parks and assets for the town of Arlington.

In closing, I asked Tonia how chamber members can support other members. We both agreed that things as simple as liking, sharing and commenting on social media posts can help boost visibility and traffic into businesses. Many businesses also offer member to member perks and discounts. If you’re a chamber member we encourage you to do your business with your fellow members and ask about the perks!
